What we do:

The Parkinson’s Support Group of Sudbury is a group of Parkinson’s patients and their family members that gather together to share information and experiences with one another. Our organizers like to see new faces and want everyone to feel comfortable. Persons with Parkinson’s of any age and their families are always welcome.

There are a variety of events that take place at each meeting. From time to time there are guest speakers that have connections to Parkinson’s Disease. Our speakers have included Doctors, Nurses and Dieticians that treat Parkinson’s patients. We have had nurses offering safety tips for around the home and a Speech Therapist who have helpful hints on dealing with speech impediments in Parkinson’s patients.

There is a social hour at the end of the evening with free coffee and donuts. Social hour acts as an informal get together that allows everyone a chance to share their experiences with Parkinson’s, or to have a conversation in a relaxing atmosphere. Meetings are voluntary. There is a free monthly newsletter handed out at each meeting called the “Parkie – Pal”. This newsletter contains articles related to Parkinson’s and some entertaining information.

The Parkinson’s Support Group of Sudbury participates in the Superwalk for Parkinson’s in September and then hosts a free BBQ after the walk in appreciation of all the people who come out to support Parkinson’s patients and their family members.

Our group has a number of books, booklets, videos, pamphlets, and miscellaneous information helpful to people with Parkinson's. There are also a number of books about living with Parkinson's that the group has purchased and donated to several area libraries.
